Eastern Iowa's Advanced IAQ Specialist

Advanced Indoor Air Quality

Cedar Rapids • Iowa City • Anamosa

Iowa air quality problems are unique — humid summers, dry winters, allergen season, and aging homes. We diagnose first, then install the right solution. Not the most expensive one.

Why Indoor Air Quality Matters More in Iowa

70–85% RH
Iowa Summers
Iowa humidity creates perfect mold conditions in basements, crawlspaces, and HVAC systems from May through September.
< 20% RH
Iowa Winters
Without humidification, Iowa winter air inside heated homes drops below the threshold for healthy respiratory function — causing nosebleeds, cracked skin, and increased viral transmission.
6+ Months
Allergen Season
Iowa's extended growing season means tree, grass, and ragweed pollen from March through October. Whole-home filtration dramatically reduces indoor allergen load.

Our IAQ Solutions — Diagnosed Before Recommended

We measure temperature, humidity, CO₂, and airflow before recommending anything. Every solution below is matched to a specific diagnosed problem.

UV Air Purifiers

Most Popular

Germicidal UV lights installed in your air handler kill bacteria, viruses, and mold spores before air is circulated. Proven effective against airborne pathogens including influenza and mold.

Dust Free® Air Purification

Premium

Medical-grade passive air purification that neutralizes viruses, bacteria, and mold spores without chemicals or ionization. Trusted by hospitals and healthcare facilities nationwide.

Whole-Home Humidifiers

Iowa Essential

Iowa winters drop indoor humidity below 20% — causing cracked skin, nosebleeds, and respiratory irritation. Bypass or steam humidifiers maintain ideal 35–50% RH automatically.

Whole-Home Dehumidifiers

Iowa Essential

Iowa summers push indoor humidity above 60%, creating ideal mold conditions. Whole-home dehumidifiers protect your structure, air quality, and comfort without running AC constantly.

High-Efficiency Media Filters

MERV 11–16 media filters capture particles down to 0.3 microns — including dust, pet dander, pollen, and fine particulates that standard 1-inch filters miss completely.

ERV / HRV Ventilation

New Construction

Energy Recovery Ventilators bring in fresh filtered outdoor air while recovering heat energy — solving stale air and CO2 buildup in tightly sealed Iowa homes without losing heating efficiency.

Light Commercial IAQ

Commercial

Office, restaurant, or clinic? We design and install commercial-grade IAQ systems for small businesses throughout Eastern Iowa — a service zero competitors offer.

Common Air Contaminants & Concerns in Eastern Iowa

What homeowners in Jones, Linn, and Johnson counties should know—from seasonal allergens and regional smoke to indoor moisture and gases. These are concerns to evaluate, not a diagnosis or a live air-quality report.

Seasonal & year-round allergens

Pollen, dust & pet dander

Tree, grass, and weed pollen can enter Eastern Iowa homes. Indoors, dust mites and pet dander can trigger allergies even when pollen season is over.

What helps

Keep up with cleaning and filter changes. Match higher-efficiency filtration to your HVAC system’s airflow capacity.

Damp basements & humid weather

Moisture & mold spores

Leaks, damp basements, and condensation can support mold growth. Musty odors are a reason to investigate moisture—not proof of a specific mold problem.

What helps

Fix leaks and moisture sources first. EPA recommends 30–50% indoor humidity; adjust for winter condensation. Air cleaning does not replace mold cleanup.

During regional smoke events

Wildfire smoke & fine particles

Iowa DNR has documented Canadian wildfire smoke affecting Iowa. Fine particles (PM2.5) can enter through windows, air leaks, and fresh-air intakes.

What helps

Check current air-quality alerts. Consider a properly sized HEPA air cleaner and MERV-13 filtration if your system supports it; adjust outdoor-air intake during smoke events.

An important Iowa concern

Radon from the soil

Iowa HHS identifies the entire state as EPA Radon Zone 1. Radon is an invisible, odorless gas that can enter buildings from the soil; only testing reveals your home’s level.

What helps

Use a dedicated radon test. Results at or above 4 pCi/L call for a qualified radon mitigation professional—not a furnace filter or UV purifier.

Fuel-burning appliance safety

Carbon monoxide (CO)

Improperly vented or malfunctioning furnaces, water heaters, and other fuel-burning appliances can release CO. This gas has no color or smell.

What helps

Maintain appliances and working CO alarms. If an alarm sounds or you suspect CO exposure, leave immediately and call 911 from outside. Air purifiers are not CO protection.

Cleaning, remodeling & furnishings

Household chemicals & VOCs

Paints, cleaners, air fresheners, and some new furnishings release volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Poor ventilation can let these gases accumulate indoors.

What helps

Reduce sources, follow product labels, and ventilate when outdoor air is suitable. Standard particle filters do not remove gases; treatment must match the pollutant.

Sources: Iowa HHS, Iowa DNR, University of Iowa Health Care, and EPA. Reviewed September 30, 2026. HVAC temperature, humidity, CO₂, and airflow checks do not replace dedicated radon, CO, mold, or chemical testing.
